I have been wakeboarding many times and it it alot of fun. I don’t know any pros and I can’t really do any tricks either but I know in August there is a convention thing in Toronto called Wakestock and it is all about wakeboarding and thousands of people go for the weekend.

I first went wakeboarding on South Padre Island in Texas and bought a board. You use a small (About 1/3 the size of a surf board) wooden board and use "sex wax" for grip. You skim the board near the shore where the water is not very deep. Wakeboarding is an extremly fun and challenging sport, but watch out for rocks. This sport causes many bruises if you are a beginner…also you may break a board or two. (This is just for people who know nothing about it) I don’t know any pro’s…I can do basic turns but no major tricks.

I wakeboard here in Dallas. Can’t do too much…little hops, 180s and 360s. Nothing like the pros.
There’s about 4, 5 of us that go on a regular basis. There’s almost always several other boats out with people boarding – still more fishing boats than wakeboard boats where I’m at.

Not sure what that guy was talking about in Padre island. Maybe just waveskimming? Where you ride the tide on 2" of water? We go behind a boat equipped with wakeboard tower, on the local lakes. 15+ mph.

wakeboarding has a cultish following. I love it. live for it. The boards aren’t wooden, and no "sex wax" necessary.I have boarded for 2 seasons totaling a whopping 6 months. I can do many surface spins, slides, turns, jump wake to wake with 180s adding grabs along the way. this season i might try for flips, though at my age, that might not be my smartest move. the older you get the harder and longer recovery takes.

My husbands family does it. In fact I think I’m the only one at river gatherings with them who just chills out on the boat. It is fun to watch. I know it is suppose to be a good endurance sport, not to mention social and exhilarating. God Bless!
