I’ve been wakeboarding about a year now and I am wondering if it I should get a wakeboard tower? My boat has a 10 inch pole with a loop on the end to tie my rope to. I don’t really want to pay $600-$2000 for a tower.. I was told if you have a tower it helps you go higher in the air and you can do more tricks?
you should defiantly get a tower. You can go higher with a tower so you can get more tricks off. There is also the size of the wake. Which makes you go higher or not so high. Get A NATIQUE BOAT THEY ARE THE BEST

I am getting quite good at wakeboarding, and have learnt a few tricks. I will enter a contest soon, and would like to get a sponsor after it. Any ideas??
Next time you are out wakeboarding, have your buddies video tape you. Put together a video of yourself showing some of your tricks, your runs, etc. and then mail it into some wakeboard companies….
This is no different then a high school football player sending in tape of them to colleges to try and get a scholarship….Same deal.
Other things to check out: Fuel TV’s Unsponsored program, Jamie O’Brien (pro surfer who makes his own videos) at jamieobrien.com……
Good luck

I am going to make a video soon. I am a beginner though I am not doing awesome tricks or anything. I am wiping out more than anything lol. I just need a good song to go with it.
I was thinking maybe some of those funny songs like they have for jackass.
Maybe. I think I am turning japanese.
Its not badass enought to have heavy metal or anything. I am mainly looking for a funny song to go along with it.
thanks
how about "like a boss" by the lonley island :] it’s really funny well, i think so..

This is a great site. You can see the mechanics and progression of each trick. It starts with basic skills and end with expert tricks. I use this site each time I advance in skill. The technique is the most important. You have to use the handle to control each trick.

Going into an intermediate/amateur Wakeboarding competition, what tricks should I be hitting and what should my line look like?
What is the best way to earn cred from the judges?
If this is a local tourney….which sounds like it is, you need to read up on the rules as to what is allowed in each division (just contact the organizers or look on their website). Local tourneys in my area have the division split up so that intermediate can only do a max of 2 tricks (inverts or spins up to 360…no 5′s, no mobes, no raley tricks) this does not include grabs, 180′s and w2w jumps (as in the intermediate division you should be able to consistently land 180′s, grabs, and land wake to wake)….the reasoning for this of course is to keep all the divisions fair so everyone can have a fun experience.
So depending on the rules allowed in your tourney (if it is like the tourneys in my area) i would suggest being able to land several wake to wake grabs, a few wake to wake 180 variations, and one invert and one 360…if i was judging for intermediate i would consider that to be a pretty solid run. Just remember wakeboarding is a subjective sport and that style will win contest…if you look better doing the same tricks as someone else you will get more points for the trick, and most likely place higher. Good Luck and have fun!

I have been wakeboarding for 2 years but i don’t really know any good tricks.I need some tips on some good tricks and how to do them. Please help!!!
2 really easy tricks that I learned very quickly was a wake grind and a surface 180.
for the wake grind just approach the wake from the outside and right when you get on the wake turn your body towards the boat. Since the fins will be out of the water, the board will slide easily to go perpendicular to the wake. just push your back foot towards the boat.
For the surface 180 try learning outside the wake where it is nice and glassy.Hold the rope to your waist that is on your front foot. (have the rope in front of you and on your side) and have your chest square with the boat. (like a stupid body builder pose) Then just pull the rope from the front waist to the back waste quickly, and lean back. Dont look down and keep your chest facing the boat.

I have been wakeboarding for a couple of years now, and am very dissapointed with myself. All I manage to do is an indy and some other little trick I cannot remember the name of…
Any tips on how to succeed in doing intermediate tricks such as a backroll or anything similar?
Any tricks I should try?
Check out http://www.wakeworld.com/TrickList/TrickTips.asp and also check out the forums on wakeworld.com. They’re usually pretty helpful and you can ask your own questions to other members.
And try ollieng and some spins, start off with 180s and 360s. And for first inverts try backrolls and tantrums.

i have a liquid force diva 131 and i have a boat with 130 hp 3L engine and no tower i only started 3 weeks ago but got up on my second time and am now trying to teach my friends without any luck.
getting up: knees bent a little bit and arms bent.
Let the boat pull you up. Your hands will move away from you, and you will slowly stand up. I like slow starts, but some people like fast better.
my tricks: I haven’t done any tricks yet besides butterslide (which doesn’t really count). Butterslide is when you are going slow (10-12 mph) nad you switch which foot you have in front. You do this by moving the handle to the right to switch from left foot forward to right foot forward. Sometimes the water catches the edge of board when you start turning. I am working on jumping. I know that you have to cut hard into the wake without leaning with your knees bent, then jump at the wake. I haven’t gotten a lot of air yet.
