What are some cool but easy tricks to learn on a wakeboard ?

December 3rd, 2009 — 1:05pm

I have been wakeboarding for 2 years but i don’t really know any good tricks.I need some tips on some good tricks and how to do them. Please help!!!

2 really easy tricks that I learned very quickly was a wake grind and a surface 180.

for the wake grind just approach the wake from the outside and right when you get on the wake turn your body towards the boat. Since the fins will be out of the water, the board will slide easily to go perpendicular to the wake. just push your back foot towards the boat.

For the surface 180 try learning outside the wake where it is nice and glassy.Hold the rope to your waist that is on your front foot. (have the rope in front of you and on your side) and have your chest square with the boat. (like a stupid body builder pose) Then just pull the rope from the front waist to the back waste quickly, and lean back. Dont look down and keep your chest facing the boat.

wakeboarding help please?

November 25th, 2009 — 5:20pm

im thinking of taking wakeboarding lessons but i need to know what i should do right now to in order to prepare for wakeboarding as in should i mostly workout my upper body? or my lower? any tips would be great, thanks in advance

more upper, the lower isnt too bad once u get up but the upper will get sore after awhile from holding onto the rope, best advice to getting up is sit back on ur back kinda, tighten ur abs, have ur front foot sitting way out of the water, have ur elbows bent and once u feel it start to take u put ur arms out, dont pull back on the rope when ur getting up as u’ll face plant like i did the 1st 28 times i tried. after u get up its pretty easy from there!

wakeboarding competitions ?

November 22nd, 2009 — 5:08am

i love wakeboarding, it’s something i’ve always liked to do. i’m a 15 year old girl, and i have a back roll, almost a tantrum and working on my 360. i wanna try going pro someday, but there aren’t a lot of competitions where i live, and i also don’t ride that frequently. i ride a lot in the summer, but after that it is not often because of the weather. tips and advice on how to become better, and how to get in more competitions?

as far as lack of competitions goes, try talking to a local sports shop to help you get one organized, many times that is a successful route the very first time… go in there with a list of people who’d ride in it and talk to some other businesses to ask if theyd held sponsor it…

Wakeboarding Help- WakeBoarders please Help?

November 13th, 2009 — 9:04am

I know the three sections and everything to begin with but yesterday i had a wakeboarding lesson. The instructures told me everthing but i just couldn’t get up and actually stand up. I am thinking of having enother lesson but is there any tips you can give me

pulling the rope to your hips and straightening your legs wont get the job done. you need to be in a compact squated position doing a stomach crunch as the boat moves. you need to be patient and not try to stand up or you will push the board forward and you will fall backward. forget everything and let the instructor teach you. if you cant get up then, then he should refund your money!

Any tips on wakeboard tricks?

November 1st, 2009 — 4:54am

I have been wakeboarding for a couple of years now, and am very dissapointed with myself. All I manage to do is an indy and some other little trick I cannot remember the name of…
Any tips on how to succeed in doing intermediate tricks such as a backroll or anything similar?

Any tricks I should try?

Check out http://www.wakeworld.com/TrickList/TrickTips.asp and also check out the forums on wakeworld.com. They’re usually pretty helpful and you can ask your own questions to other members.

And try ollieng and some spins, start off with 180s and 360s. And for first inverts try backrolls and tantrums.

How do you get a lot of air while wakeboarding?

October 28th, 2009 — 7:13pm

I have recently gotten a tower and I can’t figure out how to get the amount of air that you see in videos.I don’t know if it’s my rope length, my speed, etc. So if anyone could give me some tips or give me some other web sites to help me out, it would be greatly appreciated

Well most of the videos you see are probably pro riders, who have years of experience. The best way to get good air is to hold the Handel in!!! Slowly gain speed as you head into the wake. Don’t be scared of the wake. To allot of people it can be intimidating when you are first leaning jumps. On YouTube look up relentless, that’s a good how to video. Good luck. If you have anymore questions feel free to email me.

is wakeboarding more easy if you have skateboarded? and I would like to know how to wakeboard.or just tips TY

yea, I’m sure it helps because it teaches you a sense of balance – which is exactly what you need for wakeboarding.
So…the hardest part for me is getting up, so when the boat is starting to lift you up, make sure to turn your board vertical with one foot in front….because when i started learning, they told me that the board turns on its own (not true, turn it buy your self)…oh, and keep your knees bent, at least for the first times you get up on the water.

i’m wakeboarding for the first time, any tips?

October 22nd, 2009 — 4:08pm

i heard you need alot of upper body strength, which unfortunately i don’t have much of
i’m 5’1" 115 lbs do you think i’ll have trouble?

You’ll want to start out in the water with the board strapped to your feet – whether you strap it on reg or goofy depends on which feels more comfortable to you, just know that the bindings will have to be adjusted to face the right direction as well, you can’t just flip it over -
Grip the handle of the rope with one hand over and one hand under the bar (like one palm up and the other down) this will give you a better grip on the rope once the boat starts to move.
Once you have the rope, you’ll want to start in a position similar to that of sitting in a chair. In the water, bend your knees and turn your body(and with it, the board) sideways a little so that you are facing the boat but at an angle to it. The key is that you aren’t pulling yourself up straight towards the boat but rather, out toward the wake. This will give you the maximum amount of surface area on the board to push against the water when the boat starts to move. Make sure that the front tip of the wakeboard is out of the water so that when the boat moves you will stay above water!
Before the driver of the boat pulls you up you’ll want them to move SLOWLY forward to tighten up the rope before they gun it – that way you don’t get the rope ripped out of your hand because you’ll already have adjusted your grip a little better to accomodate the tension.
When the rope is tense and you feel steady, tell the drive to go. When you feel the pull from the boat intensify push down against the water with your feet(and the board) like you are standing up from your "chair". Pull the rope towards your body at the same time and you should be able to stand right up.
To turn, lean in the direction that you want to go, the board will lean and the pressure from the water will turn it in that directions. Make sure to keep your knees slightly "loose" so that you can give a little with the small wakes in the water and not feel so jolted. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!
Remember to have fun, Wakeboarding is a very good source of exercise AND its a blast! No one is perfect their first time so don’t quit!
