Is it ok to go Wakeboarding if I’m only 14 weeks pregnant??

January 14th, 2010 — 2:08am

I love wakeboarding and I’m going in a few weeks and I’ll only be 14 weeks pregnant is it ok to do it, as long as I don’t do any jumps or tricks that will make me biff it hard?
Oh just incase people don’t know what wakeboarding is its a watersport kind of like slolum skiing only your strapped to a bigger board sideways, kind of like snowboarding on the water.

That isn’t a good idea. I know it’s going to be tough to be pregnant over the summer, I’m gonna have to do it too. Anyway, God forbid something bad happened and you fell or hit something… this could be terrible news for your baby. Just don’t risk it, a life is more important than a day of fun. :)

Wakeboarding question?

January 9th, 2010 — 4:06am

im starting to try some more advanced tricks while wakeboarding. my first goal is to complete a tantrum (back flip). i know how to do the trick i just have a quick question. when i cut to the wake i need to straighten out the board to start the flipping motion. my question is: how do i keep my speed from my cut and convert it to getting more air if i slow down to straighten the board. when i straighten the board, wont that take some of my speed away? help on how to keep my speed to get higher so i can complete the trick

That’s awesome that you are onto tantrums, those are one of my favorite inverts to do. Well you switch and straighten your board just before you reach the wake and then switch to ts at the top of the wake. Yeah it will kinda slow you down but its not enough to really slow you down and prevent you from doing the trick. Practice switching and doing your edge for a while before you go for the tantrum and practice cutting into the wake and then at the last second switch back and cut away (its awesome and makes a HUGE spray).

This might help….

what is the speed to get air in wakeboarding?

January 4th, 2010 — 9:09am

i have been trying to get massive air in wakeboarding and appparently i cant. what is the trick? my speed is only 15 MPH and we have a jet boat not a wakeboard boat. what matters??

there is a lot more to getting a lot of air than boat speed alone.
since you’re riding behind a jet boat, your wake probably isn’t to big, which is a major roadblock. to make this better, make everyone you’re with sit in the back of the boat, or buy a ballast system, or even put buckets of cement in your boat, the more weight, the bigger wake.

another thing is your technique of jumping. make sure your using a solid progressive edge (setting your angle to the wake so that your hardest cut is right as you take off) and make sure to edge all the way through your jump. stand tall off the wake, don’t bend your knees cuz that will only absorb your pop.

a tower helps bring you off the water higher, but if you dont have one, its no big deal, you’ll learn your technique better.

most advanced wakeboarders set their speed at around 18-22 mph.
but go at what speed you’re comfortable with. your wake should be sharp and crisp the the tip, not foamy and bubbly (that’s called a washy wake) so set the speed so that your wake is the cleanest

hope this helps
